December Announcements

Donuts with Dad will be held this Friday, Nov. 30th from 7:00-8:00 a.m. in the cafetorium. The cost is $5 per family.


The Termite and Pee Wee Banquet will be December 3, 2012; please send in your money by November 30th..

The Christmas Ornaments they made in art are ready. Please send $10 for them.

Veggie orders are due this Friday.

Please remember to bring Auburn, Alabama, or Troy things for the gift basket for the Patriot Marketplace. The Patriot Marketplace will be December 7th from 9am - 7:30 pm.

The PTO Christmas Store will be December 13th - 14th for the kids to buy Christmas Presents

Polar Express Day is Tuesday, December 18. Everyone needs to wear their PJ's. Also, if you have the Polar Express Movie at home please send it for our class to watch.

We will have our Christmas Party on Thursday, December 20. We will have a PIZZA lunch so please send $4. Also, if anyone would like to send any other party food that would be great! Please let me know.

We are going to play "School Supplies Dirty Santa" at our party so everyone needs to bring a gift of SCHOOL SUPPLIES wrapped. Please do not go over $10 on gifts.

Thanksgiving Program and Patriot Marketplace

Please send your addresses and stamps for the Thanksgiving program by tomorrow. We would like to send these out as soon as possible.

The Thanksgiving Lunch order form will be sent with the invitation. The cost for lunch will be $6 and include HAM AND TURKEY, DRESSING, GREEN BEANS, GRAVY, CRANBERRY SAUCE, SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE, ROLL, DRINK, AND SLICE OF CAKE.

Patriot Marketplace will be December 7 from 9 am - 7:30 pm. Please send an Auburn, Alabama, or Troy item for our basket by November 30.

Thanksgiving Program



The Thanksgiving program for the 4th grade will be on Friday, November 16, before Thanksgiving break.

Since we are working on a unit in Language on friendly letters, we will send invitations for our program through the mail. Please send in the addresses for everyone you would like to invite to the program, including your address, and stamps. They are so excited about sending out the invitations themselves!
A Thanksgiving lunch will follow the program and order forms will be sent with the invitations.

We need a few other supplies for the tables at our program. Please let me know if you can send:
  1. beads - the 8 basic colors: white, blue, green, black, brown, red, yellow, and orange
  2. pipe cleaners - in white, brown, or orange
  3. small black paper plates
  4. small black paper cups

HALLOWEEN PARTY!

We are going to have our Halloween Party this Friday before the Wagon Parade. (Sorry this is short notice, I had a crazy idea we had another week...?)

Please e-mail me or send me a note if you can bring chips, dip, cookies, cupcakes, or any other treat. Also, since we are going to party Friday we are going to move our Spelling Test, Reading Test, and Vocab Quiz to Monday, October 29. I think that there is too much excitement on Friday! :)

They have done a great job dressing up this week! Happy Homecoming and Halloween!

Field Trip money, Fall Festival, and Awareness Week

The Fall Festival will be Tuesday, October 30, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Our game is the "Wheel of Fortune," please let me know if you can work a 30 min. time slot. Thanks!

This week the SGA will be sponsoring an Awareness Week. The following will be the themes for each day:
Wednesday-Wear pink for “Breast Cancer Awareness”;
Thursday- Wear yellow to “Support Our Troops;
Friday-Wear red for being “Drug Free”.

Please remember to send Field trip money - tomorrow! Mrs. Mary Ann will be here and I have to turn it in to her tomorrow.

Field Trip and Grandparent's Day Reminders and other important dates

Please fill out the 4-H enrollment form that was sent home yesterday.
Please look at the FIELD TRIP tab. We do have enough drivers, so thank you all so much and please send in your money by this Friday, September 28.

Grandparent's Day will be Friday, September 28, at 10:00am. Students are allowed to check out after the program Friday. :)

PTO has asked for the discount card fundraiser sheet (discount card) sales to be turned in by Friday.
The PTO will be giving an ice cream party for the class selling the most discount cards. Grade levels are: K4-3; 4-6; and 7-12.

Muffins with Mommy, Black out the Knight's Lights, and other information

Muffins with Mommy will be Friday, September 21, from 7am to 8am in the PLAS Cafetorium.  The cost is $5 per family.

Varsity Cheerleaders are asking everyone to wear black tomorrow for the pep rally and to the game so we can “Black Out the Knight's Lights”

The Pike County 4-H Expo is Sat., Sept. 22nd from 9:30 to 11:30 at the Tractor Supply Co. here in Troy. There will be educational events with snacks and door prizes.

Scott Hill, Cub Scout representative, will be here Wednesday, Sept. 26th at 1:00 to pass out flyers and will meet again with parents on Thursday, Sept. 27th at 6:00 pm.

Ribbon for Grandparent's Day Project

Please send ribbon for a grandparents day project. Everyone will need some so we will need several rolls. Thanks for all you do!

Paddington, Pastries, Pictures, and Reminders

We will be doing novel studies for reading for the next 3 weeks. Our class will be reading A Bear Called Paddington. They were issued books from the library today that they may take home, however every student must have their book in class everyday. We will be using them everyday!!! We will have vocabulary from the chapters we are reading each week as well as a study guide as usual every Thursday. We will also be doing spelling from our regular book. I love Paddington bear and I know they will too! :)

Also, one of our VOCAB words this week is pastry - if any parents would like to bring some pastries for the class that would be super! The class had a hard time picturing what a pastry was :)
Tuesday, September 18th the following pictures will be made JV Football-6th period, Termite Cheerleaders-2:45, Pee Wee Cheerleaders-3:15,Termite Football- 3:45, and Pee Wee Football-4:15.

Friday Reminders and Important Cafeteria Announcement

School Day Pictures will be made next week. Tuesday will be grades K4-1st; Wednesday is grades 2-6; Thursday is grades 7-11; and Friday is make-up.

Wednesday is last day for students to turn all forms into the office. - The following people need to turn in Liability Forms (this the is notarized one): Bryce, Bayli, and Claire-Ann

4-H Announcements

4-H Livestock Workshop will be Saturday, September 15th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Pike County Cattleman Park. Bring your animal. Registration is from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m.

2012 Farm City Poster Contest:
Theme "Grown Safely. Extra Tasty" with the focus on food safety.

Entry is open to all students in Pike County in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. The work must be the original work of the student.

There are two categories of competition: K-3 grades and 4-6 grades. A first place winner will be selected from those submitting posters by October 22nd.

Posters must relate to the theme. The name of the theme must be on the poster.

Posters will be on display during the month of November.

The size should be horizontal with the length no greater than 28 inches and height no greater than 22 inches. It should be no smaller than 14 inches in length and 11 inches high.

Any flat medium can be used (such as pen and pencil, crayon, watercolor, ink, oil) but no three-dimensional posters, such as gluing products onto a poster, will be eligible.

Alexander Calder: American Sculptor Friday Project

Mrs. Laura Renfroe sent us the most fun project to do today! We learned about Alexander Calder, an American sculptor and did wire sculptures like his. Thanks Miss Laura! We had a great time! You can learn more about Alexander Calder and his work here.
