End of the Year Announcements

Pike County Groundwater Festival - Wednesday, April 28 at Troy University. We will need drivers to help us get to Troy and back. We need to leave school at 9:15 and then we will have lunch at 12:30 at the Trojan Center then we will come back to school after lunch. Everyone will need money for lunch.

School dismissed at 12:50 - Friday, April 30. There will be sack lunches available for $3.65: Chicken Snack with fries, drink, and 1 cookie
Hamburger, fries, drink and 1 cookie
Cheeseburger, fries, drink and 1 cookie

Field Day - Monday, May 10. I will have more information about this soon.


The Glamour and Glitz Father-Daughter Dance - Tuesday, May 11th at 6:00-8:00 in the cafetorium.

Elementary Honor Day - Thursday, May 13 at 1:15 in the Cafetorium.

End of the Year Party - Wednesday or Thursday, May 19 or 20. Parents are in charge of planning this, any ideas or information you find out please e-mail to Mrs. Barron or I.

Last day of School - Friday, May 21.

Field Trip Schedule for Friday

7:15 am - We must leave school early so everyone needs to be on time!! We can not leave any later since our first tour starts at 8:00!!

8:00 am - Little White House of the Confederacy Tour

9:00 am - Capitol Building Tour

10:00 am - Archives Building Tour

11:15 am - CiCi's Pizza on Ann St.

1:00 pm - Rosa Parks Children's Museum

2:00 pm - Leave to come back to school

Reminders:
  1. Everyone needs to be dressed nicely but girls do not wear skirts.
  2. We have a tight schedule so everyone needs to stay with the group and parents please keep an eye on the children that you are chaperoning.
  3. The pizza will cost $4 for the children to eat please send this tomorrow (in cash) please.
  4. Parents you will pay for your pizza when you get to CiCi's.
  5. The museum also costs $4 for children and $6 for adults please send this tomorrow (in cash) also. Parents if you do not wish to enter the museum, you may wait outside but do not go anywhere else as we need you there when we are ready to go.
  6. Parents also please be aware that most of the parking downtown is metered so you need to have change.

April 12

***PROGRESS REPORTS WENT HOME IN THE FOLDERS TODAY(4/12). Please return folders in the morning(4/13). I did not send folders home for the other class due to SAT-10 testing last week.

***Our class will be collecting aluminum cans for GO GREEN WEEK!!! Please do not send any until FRIDAY(4/16) due to our SACS visit. The class with the most wins a pizza party!!!

*** Admission to the powderpuff game on April 20th at 1:15 is $3.00.

***All entry forms, entry fees, and biography sheets for the pageant are due by Tuesday, April 13th. The pageant for grades K4-8th is Tuesday, April 20th at 6:00 p.m. and grades 9-12 is Thursday, April 22nd at 6:00 p.m.

***April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month. In an effort to involve our school in this awareness, the Pike Regional Child Advocacy Center is having two contests. One is a poster contest and the other is a coin collection contest.The theme for the poster contest is "Joining Hands Against Child Abuse". The coin collection contest is $.01 a vote. The class with the most votes will win a pizza party in May. We have a canister in our room for the children to participate with their money. Poster judging will begin on April 26th. We will work on these in class.

04/08/09

***Sunday, April 11th, is Clean-Up Day, 1:30-4:30, in preparation for the SACS visit on April 14th and 15th. There are specific tasks that you can call and sign up for, or you can just show up and do what needs to be done. We want to have our school and grounds looking the best possible. Thank you in advance for your help.

04/05 - 04/09

***We are SAT-10 testing this week. Remember to rest, eat and be on time. Students need a good supply of pencils with erasers.

***All test participants are invited to a Tucker Park concert Friday, April 9th, at 2:00 p.m. in the cafetorium. Feel free to bring a snack. They will be allowed to sing and dance.

***Thursday(4/8) Mr. David Scrogggins will speak to the 4th grade at 1:00 about the Civil War. He will dress the part!!!

***ADEM will speak to the class about weather on Friday(4/9) .

***We will go to the CAPITOL BUILDING, ARCHIVES AND LITTLE WHITE HOUSE on APRIL 23rd. Please send an e-mail or note if you would like to drive. We will post information later.
